About this centre

  Two-week Free Trial available

The centre has been providing maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities since 2009. The unique programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

Many of the students attend schools within the area and live in the local community, although some students attend from Erith, Welling and Belvedere.

As well as the Instructor, there are dedicated assistants during each class session. A senior assistant is dedicated to reading with and supporting English students. Along with the Instructor, Kemi Orisatoki, the team are on hand to provide guidance where necessary.

Hello and welcome to Kumon Abbeywood Study Centre. My name is Kemi Orisatoki. I became a Kumon Instructor in August 2009.

My first introduction to Kumon was as a parent, when I enrolled my children onto the programmes to challenge them further.

I believe that all children have great potential to be strong academically as well as in their personal lives. I motivate my students to confront new challenges and pursue their own goals, thus developing life-long study skills and a passion for learning. I also encourage parents to be involved in their child's learning and provide regular feedback on their progress.

It is so rewarding to see the progression of all my students, in particular, witnessing a shy, struggling student become a confident, independent learner after a few months of Kumon study.

I look forward to welcoming many more families to the centre.
