About this centre

The study centre has been open since 2006. The current age range of students is from reception age through to students in year ten, although the Kumon programmes are suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

The study centre is passionate about developing independent study skills with all of the students and encourages them to carry out all aspects of their studies independently, though with close guidance from the Instructor and class assistants.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

I have nearly eight years’ experience as a Kumon Instructor, firstly as an Associate of Kumon, and then running my own centre.

In that time, I have worked with many students, supporting them with their individual journeys to reach their full potential. I have had 13 completers of the Kumon programmes; and of the four GCSE maths students that I have supported, three received an A grade, and the fourth went from a U to a C grade within one year.

Prior to becoming a Kumon Instructor, I worked as the course manager and tutor on the Apprenticeship programmes for Warwickshire College, and completed an MA in Educational Leadership and Innovation at Warwick University.

I have two children, both of whom have completed the English programme and are studying the maths programme. I am very proud of my children and firmly believe that it is the skills that they developed whilst doing the Kumon programmes that have supported them to be where they are today as confident, focused young adults who are prepared to take on all opportunities.

I really look forward to working with you and your child to help them achieve their full potential.
