The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre up to twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

My name is Sue Minto. I have been a Kumon Instructor for over 16 years and seen many students achieve their aims, whether it be good examination results, a choice of university, confidence when working with their peers or simply just feeling able to cope with all maths tasks given to them at school.

Previously before discovering Kumon I was a primary school teacher. I have worked in a variety of different areas of the country and seen many schools. The teaching of maths was different in each one, but my over-riding impression was that many children found maths a challenge. I started to research what might be available to supplement the school programme. I discovered Kumon.

My two children, who were six and eight years old at the time became my first students. We learnt together. My first impression was how difficult it was to do the programme without any support; my children just had mum! It made me realise how important the twice weekly class days are, and that the commitment from parents to come regularly is very important. We continued and made good progress.

It is always lovely to hear how previous students have got on and how they have fulfilled their potential.
