About this centre

The Kumon Canada Water Study Centre provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. The centre opened in 2012 and many of the students attend schools and live in the local community and some travel from nearby neighbourhoods.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Whilst waiting for your child to complete their daily Kumon work in the centre, parents or guardians can browse the books in the library, use an internet access point or grab a coffee. A text message service informs parents when children are ready to be picked up.

There are seven assistants who work in the centre alongside the Instructor, supporting the students' development.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

Hello, my name is Snezha Stoyanova and I am the Instructor at the Canada Water Study Centre.

I have come a long way from volunteering and professional youth work, through adult community learning, to fulfil my dream of setting up my own Kumon Study Centre at the beginning of 2012. I am passionate about helping young people and adults to achieve their full potential.

In my centre I encourage my students to become independent learners, to take responsibility for their own study and success and most importantly, to learn from their own mistakes. It is both fascinating and rewarding to see how their eyes light up when they complete their work, after learning something new, or when they tackle a difficult task on their own.

My students continue to amaze me regularly with their accomplishments which are far beyond what is expected for their age. I take great pride when a parent or student comes to me with news from school about how they have moved up a set or exceeded their expectations after studying Kumon.

I look forward to discussing the programme with you and would be delighted to welcome your child to the Kumon Canada Water Study Centre.
