About this centre

  Two-week Free Trial available

The study centre was established in 1998, and local Instructor Christine has run it since 2007. The centre supports over 100 students of all ages and abilities, from local schools and outlying areas.

The Instructor and the team of assistants at the study centre are on hand throughout class to offer support and encouragement, and the Instructor makes sure she spends time with each student before they leave, in order to discuss their progress and provide necessary feedback.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Students across the centre have reaped the benefits of improved confidence, concentration, and study skills with Kumon’s help.

Following a free assessment your child will begin on the programme at an individually set starting point, laying a solid foundation for effective learning and thereafter the programme is tailored to individual needs, ensuring your child continues to grow and achieve their potential through the daily study of the Kumon worksheets and attendance at the study centre once or twice a week.

My name is Christine Johnston, and I took over the study centre in 2007. Over my thirty-year career I have worked with children in various different settings and have always loved working with children; helping them to achieve their potential in whatever they do is what encouraged me to become a Kumon Instructor.

My role is to guide and motivate my students to become more confident with their studies through the daily study of the Kumon worksheets.

It is inspiring to see my students gaining confidence in their maths and English studies. It is wonderful when the students themselves say how much Kumon has helped them, and tell me that they have moved up a set at school.

It is fantastic to see the commitment my Kumon families make to sticking to the routine of daily study and marking. It is particularly encouraging to see parents witnessing the benefits Kumon study is bringing to their child and hearing just how much it has helped them at school.

At each class, my assistants and I make every effort to provide an encouraging and friendly learning environment for each student, so that they leave with a positive attitude to their studies.
