About this centre

The Harpenden Study Centre was established in 1993. Since then, the centre has helped many hundreds of children improve their maths, English and self-study skills.

The centre's youngest student is currently three years old and the oldest student is 15 years old, although Kumon is suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

The study centre aims to provide a warm, friendly and independent learning environment. At least 12 fully trained assistants assist at each class to make sure that our students make the best progress possible.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

Hello. My name is Ann Price and I have been running the Harpenden Study Centre since 2000.

I have 11 years' experience as a school governor which has given me valuable insight into how our education system works.

I found out about Kumon when my children joined the programme. My children gained great maths and English skills and began to make much better progress at school. I liked being involved in their studies and seeing their skills improve so much that I trained as an Instructor.

I had the opportunity to travel to Japan, Spain and Germany with Kumon and was able to learn about Kumon best practices from all around the world. This experience has given me many extra skills and ideas which I can use to help my students reach their full potential.

Running my Kumon centre provides me with many challenges. I love the fact that there is always something new to learn from the children, which in turn helps me constantly improve the learning experience of all my students. I am also able to see my students grow in skills and confidence which is the most rewarding part of my job.
