A warm welcome to the Kumon Hazlemere Study Centre, established in 2005, which provides individually tailored maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
The Hazlemere study centre has built an excellent reputation for helping children acquire confidence and strengthen their abilities in maths and English. Classes are held at Sir William Ramsay Secondary School, which has its own dedicated car park and separate waiting area for parents.
Most of the students who come to the Hazlemere centre, attend local primary and secondary schools in Hazlemere, High Wycombe and the surrounding villages. Their ages range from four through to 18 and they attend once or twice a week, for approximately 45 minutes at each session. They are supported and guided under the direction of the Instructor, Karen Saunders. The Instructor is assisted by two senior assistants and four younger assistants, all of whom attend local grammar schools and who are committed to providing a supportive environment in which children can build their confidence and explore their potential in maths and English.
Hi – my name is Karen Saunders and I run the Kumon Hazlemere Study Centre. I have been a Kumon Instructor for over 12 years and can honestly say making that decision was one of the best I have ever made.
Prior to starting Kumon, I had a varied career including European Product Manager for a food ingredients company and Research Advisor at Bucks New University, advising primary care professionals on their research projects. It was here that I became involved with helping students who had found maths at school challenging and who had made the transition to adulthood fearing numbers and anything remotely to do with them.
Over the years working as a Kumon Instructor, I have realised that it is extremely important a child is given the time to practice something and understand it before moving on and starting something new. I have seen how completing a small amount of work each day can have a huge impact on a child's development and confidence.
Watching a child grow in both confidence and ability, and seeing the rewards and benefit of this, is one the most enjoyable parts of being an Instructor.
So, whether you want your child to catch up or get ahead in school, the Kumon programmes can help. Call me to find out more.
