About this centre

  Two-week Free Trial available

The centre was opened in 1996 and is a thriving and important part of the local community. Students of a wide range of abilities, from in and around Knutsford, attend the study centre. There are currently students at the centre aged from three years old in preschool, to 17 year olds currently doing their A levels.

The study centre offers a welcoming, motivational environment and operates on a drop-in basis so students can attend at a time to suit parents and the students, up to twice a week. Each session lasts approximately 30-40 minutes.

There are a team of trained assistants who help ensure class runs smoothly and efficiently. All newly enrolled Kumon students will work initially on a one-to-one basis with an assistant who will help them develop their study skills sufficiently so they can go on to work independently in class.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Hello, I am Sue Sharples and I have been a Kumon Instructor at the Knutsford Study Centre since 1996.

During that time, my commitment and belief in the Kumon Method has continued and strengthened as I have seen students developing their full potential and succeeding in school.
My role is very varied as I help less confident students develop skills they need to blossom at school; help average students to become high achievers and stretch high achievers to reach their full potential. It is with great pleasure that I can help each and every child.

I originally became involved with Kumon having read an article about the programmes and immediately arranged to go and visit a local study centre to get first-hand experience of how Kumon could benefit the students. Well, I was hooked! How could something apparently so simple be so effective?

It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and I am continually motivated in pursing the goals of my students by being involved in their progress. It is very thrilling and exciting to be a part of a young person’s development, helping them to reach their goals.
