About this centre

The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable children of any age and ability to develop key foundations for learning. Our unique study method focuses on enabling children to work independently, giving them confidence in their abilities. They progress through small steps to gradually develop ability and fluency before moving on to the next topic. Kumon study is not based on school curriculum or age, allowing children the flexibility to revisit and build skills where they need to and progress beyond school level where their ability allows. Unlike traditional tuition, Kumon study fosters students’ skill in self-learning, building confidence and lessening reliance on a teacher.

Your child will be assessed to enable their Instructor to set work at just the right level for them. Through daily worksheet study they develop ability and fluency. Your child will visit their local study centre for study sessions twice a week, where their Instructor will observe their learning growth and set work accordingly. Kumon’s aim is to develop each child into a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner.

I have been the Leicester, Wigston Study Centre Instructor since September 2005, in which time I have steadily been increasing the class size so that as many children as possible in the Wigston area can benefit from the Kumon programmes. We now have approximately 120 students.

My background is that I am a Qualified Certified Accountant, with over 20 years of accountancy experience. I decided to become an Instructor because I love children and to see them prosper in their education gives me a challenge.

I took on this role after watching and helping my wife Smita Ghelani, Instructor at the Leicester, Oadby and Market Harborough Study Centres. We have had all three of our children doing both subjects in Kumon, even before either of us became Kumon Instructors.

It is a very rewarding job and my aim for this centre is to promote a nurturing environment of growth and understanding for my students. My role is to guide and motivate students through the programmes, to set goals and targets together to ensure they are progressing and reaching their potential.

The Leicester, Wigston Study Centre enrols students all year round. For further information, an informal chat or to visit the centre, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
