The Kumon Perth Study Centre has been in operation for over 23 years, offering maths and English programmes to children and young people of all ages and abilities. Currently our students range in age from three to 18 years old.

The unique Kumon Maths and English programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

The atmosphere at the Perth Study Centre is friendly and conducive to learning. Sandra, the Instructor at the centre, is supported by a team of class assistants, many of whom are past Kumon students. Their role is to help mark and record work and also to assist the children with their studies. For new and young students there is a skills table, which is supported by class assistants to help the students with their study skills.

Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

Hi, my name is Sandra Ritchie and I have been the Instructor at the Perth Study Centre since 2004.

After teaching physics and maths at secondary level, before taking up a position as a maths lecturer at the University of the Highlands and Islands, I decided to train to become a Kumon Instructor. I have a strong desire to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to reach their potential, and Kumon has allowed me to achieve this.

I can honestly say that running the Perth Study Centre has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. Every week children and parents tell me of success at school beyond their expectations before starting Kumon. For some children Kumon has been life-changing; for many it has allowed them to grow in confidence, to develop strong study skills and to have the ability to reach their full academic potential.

My two sons started studying Kumon whilst in pre-school, which certainly helped them improve academically as well as build a strong foundation towards their studies. Being a Kumon Instructor and also a Kumon parent has allowed me to experience Kumon from a parent’s perspective.
