The Kumon Peterborough West Study Centre is well-established within the local community. The centre provides a welcoming, studious environment for children and young people of all ages and abilities to study the Kumon Maths and English Programmes. We currently support students from pre-school to A-level, with some studying further maths.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programme pursue the potential of each child by developing confident independent learners through individualised advanced study.

Each student starts their Kumon journey at the right level for them and progress through the worksheet-based programmes at their own pace. Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

We have a team of six highly trained assistants to support our students. The assistants specialise in a range of areas varying from early learner support up to higher level study.

Alongside class time, we regularly take part in events such as World Book Day and offer the students reading competitions through the Kumon Recommended Reading List. We also hold maths day events to encourage our students’ passion for maths.

I became the Instructor at the Peterborough West Study Centre in 2013, after hearing about the study programmes from a friend whose child attended another centre nearby.

I was attracted to the Kumon Method of Learning and the well-refined programmes, designed to develop children into confident individuals who are able to learn independently and achieve their full potential.

I am a qualified teacher who graduated from University of Cambridge. I previously taught physics for six years to A-level students, so I understand the importance of a solid, pure mathematical foundation. As someone who is passionate about science, I have always wanted to keep up with new ideas. Through reading, I learned how to write both creatively as well as technically. Understanding what one reads is so important in all the subjects you study at school and beyond.

One of my favourite elements of being an Instructor is working closely with students and seeing them progress not just academically, but also in motivation, attitude, and confidence. It is important to me that after every class, children leave the centre having learnt something new and with a smile on their face.

As well as an Instructor, I am a proud Kumon parent. My daughter now excels in all her subjects at school and has a can-do, confident attitude, which means she is happy to enter short story challenges and other enrichment activities.
