About this centre

The Redhill study centre has been opened since 1996, and provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and a wide range of abilities.

Over 100 children between the ages of four and 18 years old are currently enrolled at the centre. Students in year 5 and below should be escorted into the small hall by a responsible adult who must stay in the waiting area until the student is ready to leave class.

The Instructor Maggie Stanger is assisted in class by a team of classroom assistants. New students work on tables of three with one assistant. They are supported to help them develop good study habits and they move to the main work area when they display the necessary confidence and abilities. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

My name is Maggie Stanger and I am the Instructor at the Redhill Study Centre.

I have a maths degree and I started my working life in a top accountancy firm. I had loved maths from an early age and when I saw an advert for Kumon, I decided that sharing this enthusiasm for a subject that many parents and students may not like, and using my experiences from doing a degree in the subject, would be a fulfilling career move. This led me to train as a Kumon Instructor.

Having been a Kumon parent, I understand the challenges that parents face to motivate their children on a daily basis and I am here to support families to enable students to get the most out of their Kumon studies. Over the last 17 years I have helped many students develop the study skills necessary for successful study at secondary school and beyond.

I enjoy the daily challenge of tailoring each student's work to their individual needs to help them to reach their full potential. I find it rewarding to see children with difficulties receive the support they need to help them to continually improve. The students' achievements are celebrated each year at a party and awards ceremony.
