About this centre

The centre provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. Students studying at the centre range in age from five to 15 years old, and come from Royston and local villages, such as Bassingbourn, Barley and Great Chishill.

Opened in 2004, the study centre continues to grow as more students see the benefits of doing a little bit of work every day. On average, students at the centre study with Kumon for more than two years. Student's abilities vary enormously, yet they all improve and progress in maths and English at a speed that suits them.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

Hi. My name is Sally McMeekin and I have been a Kumon Instructor since 2004, when I established the Royston Study Centre.

I first became aware of Kumon as a worried parent of a child who was struggling at school. I was recommended the Kumon programmes by a friend and decided to give it a try. Within a year, my child had progressed in her maths. Even better, her confidence grew and her grades in all her subjects also improved. Kumon really worked.

When doing some volunteer Excel training in a local primary school, I could see how fearless children were when it came to learning. It was fun and so worthwhile. So, I decided to train as a Kumon Instructor.

Having been a Kumon parent, I understand both the rewards and difficulties you will have when you start your child on Kumon, and I'm here to guide you all the way. I always visit new families before they start Kumon, so that I know how to best support each child's learning.

My greatest reward is to share with parents their child's achievements.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to know how Kumon could help your child be the best they can be.
