About this centre

The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable students of all ages and abilities to achieve. Our aim is for each and every child to become an independent, advanced learner, with a positive attitude to study.

The Kumon Sevenoaks Study Centre has been open since 1993 and moved to its current location in 2006. The programmes help students from preschoolers through to A level students. We currently have students aged from four to 16 years old.

Our classroom assistants support and guide students through their work encouraging them to develop independent study skills by carefully reading instructions and examples written on the worksheets before starting to complete their work. Students’ daily Kumon work is set individually so they are studying at just the right level to move through the programmes at an optimal pace, developing ability and independence.

Parents have a vital role in ensuring they support their children at home with their Kumon study, ensuring work is completed, timed and marked every day to aid smooth progress through the Kumon programmes.

The Sevenoaks study centre is run from the Kippington Centre, which can be found next door to St Mary’s Church in Kippington Road.

Welcome! My name is Mandy Yarnold and I have been the Instructor at the Sevenoaks study centre for 17 years. Before that I worked as an assistant at the centre.

I first came across Kumon 24 years ago when I enrolled my sons onto the programmes. I saw my sons increase in confidence through completing their daily work. Kumon improved their ability to persevere when the work became more challenging by improving their self-learning skills and increasing their stamina. Kumon became part of our morning routine and soon not only were the boys completing their schoolwork more easily and quickly but they began to work ahead of their school year work; showing and achieving their potential.

The study skills my sons learnt and mastered not only stood them in good stead at school but they are lifelong skills that continue to be of relevance even now that they are in their twenties. Through this experience, I realised how truly special the Kumon programmes are. I could see for myself that it could truly help every child to develop their potential, whatever that might be. I decided to become a Kumon Instructor and have found this role incredibly rewarding.
