About this centre

Would your child benefit from extra maths or English study? Or both? At Standish and Shevington Kumon Centre we are here to help. My class assistants and I welcome children of all ages and abilities, and we strive to help them to learn new skills and improve their academic grades. Whether your child needs to 'catch up' or needs challenging, we have the expertise and resources to help them to progress.

Every child is assessed before joining the class so that the Instructor, Fran Hutcheon, knows exactly what work to set to help the new student from the outset. The assessment is free. Every student is always set work specific to them so that it is always relevant. That is one reason why so many of our students do so well and make excellent progress.

The Instructor, Fran Hutcheon is always happy to answer any questions you might have about the Kumon programmes and how they can help your child.

For further information, or to book an assessment please contact the Instructor Fran Hutcheon.

Hello, my name is Fran Hutcheon and I am the Kumon Instructor at Standish and Shevington Study Centre. I have been a Kumon Instructor for over 10 years and during that time I have had the pleasure of instructing many children with differing abilities and needs. I love the way the Kumon programmes allow me to treat every student as an individual, capable of progressing at their own pace.

Many of my students stay with me for a number of years, progressing well beyond the expectations of their school year group. It is wonderful to see them grow up and excel, knowing that I have helped them.

In the 1980s I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA (Honours) and then I attained my Postgraduate Certificate in Education. I have been a teacher ever since. I have worked for Lancashire and Sefton in primary, secondary and special schools, and I have learned a lot along the way.

I will aim to build your child's confidence and self-esteem and help him/her to focus and concentrate on study.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your child and the Kumon programme, or book an assessment.
