Kumon Wallasey Study Centre opened in 2001 and has seen hundreds of local children, of all ages and abilities, make progress and raise their levels of achievement in maths and English. Our aim is for every child to become an independent learner, building their confidence and developing transferable study skills.
Following a free assessment, your child will begin on the programmes at an individually set starting point. Their progress through the programmes will be tailored to their individual needs, ensuring your child continues to grow and achieve.
Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.
Kumon’s long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance to take their learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed.
Our convenient position at the end of the M53 means we also have many students from the far reaches of the Wirral.
Before becoming a Kumon Instructor, I was, for many years Head of Maths in a secondary school and responsible for running the external school exams. This gives me a valuable insight into the curriculum requirements for GCSE and A levels, along with an understanding of how pupils with special needs and provision are provided for.
The assistants at the centre are all long-serving, all trained in child protection, health and safety and with up-to-date CRB checks. We have an assistant with a background and experience in nursery education and one with a degree in early years education and special needs.
After many years teaching in schools, I appreciate most the flexibility and individuality that Kumon offers students. If a child is able, then they can make rapid progress - indeed we have had many students studying GCSE topics whilst still at Primary school but conversely, if a student needs more practice then Kumon gives them this time, not constrained by key stage exams.
