At the Waltham Cross Study Centre, we aim to provide the very best service for students and their families. We are a centre of exceptional excellence and continue to develop independent learning in all our students.

Students are supported in class by a team of six to seven assistants, who have in depth knowledge and experience of the Kumon programmes. They have been carefully trained to show a duty of care to all students.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. At least 75% of our students are studying above their school level after 12 months of continuous study at the centre.

Similar to other tuition providers, the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

About the Instructor

Vaishali Dhingra - Waltham Cross Centre

I have a passion for teaching and learning, coming from a family of professors. I believe that every person is a student for life as he/she is constantly learning from life's experiences.

I have a masters in International Business and have worked at senior management level in organisations, before I decided to follow my passion in the education sector with Kumon. With Kumon, we develop children with unlimited potential for learning. Kumon stands out from the rest because it gives children the opportunity to practise and master each fundamental level before moving on. To become a great footballer, musician or artist, daily practice is a necessity. The same is true of maths and English. The idea of completing work daily might seem daunting to those who only receive homework from school once a week. However, for those children studying Kumon, developing a good daily study routine and learning to practise regularly, the academic results speak for themselves.

I love what I do and the best part of being an Instructor is helping children feel that they can succeed at what they do. I want to give all students in the Waltham Cross Community the opportunity to learn, build self-confidence and reach their potential.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
