About this centre

  Two-week Free Trial available

The Kumon Yeovil Study Centre opened in 2004, offering maths and English study programmes to children of all ages and abilities within the local area.

We invite all new students to an enrolment at the centre and, having determined the appropriate starting point on the maths and/or English programme, we discuss which class days/arrival times will best suit the family and allow appropriate support. Students usually attend class twice a week, with siblings usually attending together.

Alongside the Instructor, we have six assistants who work across various classes. Our assistants come from a variety of backgrounds, including inspiring A-level students.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

If you would like further information you are welcome to phone, enquire online or pop in to pick up a brochure. The best time to speak directly with the Instructor is during our published office hours.

Hello, my name is Kay Tar and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Yeovil Study Centre.

I saw the Kumon Maths and English Programmes advertised in a local library, and enrolled my son in both. As a parent, I loved that I could see what he had done each day and I felt that Kumon was benefitting him tremendously. When we decided to move back to Somerset, I applied to become a Kumon Instructor.

I set up the Yeovil Study Centre in May 2004. Since then I have had many highlights. I have enjoyed growing the study centre from my one child to over 100 students and hearing how my earliest young students are enjoying university.

My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the smile of a student's “a-ha” moment. Being of a scientific disposition, I love to be curious and find things out and it gives me great joy to see my students working out something they didn't know before, with minimal guidance. I love the structure of the programmes. Most of all, I love that each class and each student brings new variations and keeps Kumon's vast experience fresh and relevant for today's world.

I look forward to welcoming you to the centre.
