About our centre

We are offering Free Registration to all new students joining the centre until 31 October 2026. 

Kumon Aigburth Study Centre provides maths and English study programmes for children and young people in Aigburth and the surrounding areas of Liverpool. The centre creates a friendly, encouraging and positive learning environment where every student feels supported and able to progress with confidence.

At Kumon, each child follows an individualised programme based on their current ability. This allows students to start at a comfortable level, build strong foundations and progress gradually at a pace that is appropriate for them. The approach is designed not only to strengthen maths and English skills, but also to develop concentration, confidence, independence, perseverance and positive study habits.

The centre is led by Centre Instructor Smita Jain, with support from trained assistants where required. Students attend regular study centre sessions and complete appropriate work at home between sessions. Their progress is carefully monitored, and parents are kept informed so that the centre and families can work together effectively to support each child's development.

Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment is a key priority. Appropriate safeguarding, health and safety, emergency and risk management procedures are followed at all times to ensure the wellbeing of students, staff and visitors.

The aim of Kumon Aigburth Study Centre is to be a trusted and supportive part of the local community, helping children develop a positive attitude towards learning, become more confident in their abilities and build the skills, independence and resilience that benefit them throughout their education and beyond.

About your Instructor

My name is Smita Jain, and I am delighted to be the Instructor at Kumon Aigburth Study Centre.

As a parent myself, I understand how important it is to see a child grow in confidence, enjoy learning and feel proud of what they can achieve. Every child is different, and I strongly believe that, with the right encouragement, patience and level of challenge, every child can make excellent progress and develop a strong sense of independence.

My professional background is in IT and software development, where I have worked in leadership and team management roles. This experience has given me strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep appreciation for structured learning and continuous development.

What I particularly value about the Kumon Method is that each child progresses from a level that is appropriate for their individual ability. My aim is not only to help students strengthen their maths and English skills, but also to help them become confident, focused and independent learners.

I want  Kumon Aigburth Study Centre to be a welcoming, encouraging and positive environment for both children and parents. I look forward to getting to know each student individually, celebrating their progress and working closely with families to help every child reach their full potential.

For me, one of the most rewarding aspects of being a Kumon Instructor is seeing students grow in confidence and begin to believe in their own abilities. I am committed to creating an environment where every student feels supported, motivated and encouraged to achieve their best.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
