The Kumon Amersham study centre offers Maths and English tuition to children from the age of three years to 18 years of age; from pre-school to A-levels. Kumon has been proudly educating students in Amersham for over 20 years.

Our individualised programme allows your children to become confident and independent learners. Through observations, instruction and guidance our children become smarter learners. We equip our children with skills and tools to approach new challenges with strong foundations.  Our children become confident in their ability to self-learn and welcome challenges.

After an initial assessment, your child will follow an individualised study programme with work set at just the right level. They complete daily worksheets building skills and fluency in small manageable steps, as well as attending tuition groups at their local study centre up to twice a week. An Instructor will monitor and guide your child’s learning development to ensure work remains challenging. Kumon study does not follow any curriculum and work is set regardless of age, enabling children to revisit topics or advance far beyond school material without restriction.

Our centre is open on a Wednesday afternoon and Saturday mornings. We also offer online classes via Zoom. We are proud to be offering Kumon on tablets via KUMON CONNECT (please contact us to find out more).

As an Ofsted registered Centre, we accept childcare or tax-free vouchers. We employ a high calibre of Kumon tutors with good knowledge of Maths and English as well as a passion towards teaching young people. We are so proud to  offer excellent support to our students and families within the Amersham area and continue to develop a strong rapport with our community.

Thank you for visiting my site. My name is Yousra, and I am the Instructor for the Kumon Amersham Centre.

I am dedicated to helping students achieve their individual academic potential. As Toru Kumon said, “Teach a student fractions and he succeeds at fractions; make a student a better learner and he succeeds at life.” Kumon’s impact goes beyond academics—it instills study skills, discipline, and self-motivation that make Kumon students stand out.

I am committed to supporting every child to achieve their potential. With experience, knowledge, and passion, I create individualised study plans for my students, recognising that one size does not fit all. Each child is unique and requires a personalised approach to reach their potential. We focus on strengthening the student’s foundation and exploring topics in greater depth, allowing students to truly master each level.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

Our son joined Kumon Amersham at Christmas time, studying both English and Maths. His progress has been Incredible and having just received his end of year report from school, we are blown away with how far he has come. Yousra and the team at the study centre are helpful and professional and our son really enjoys his sessions with them. Amazing service and support all the time. My son has had difficulty cocentrating for a few years, he joined Kumon in year 1 and is currently in year 3. Kumon has helped him improve his discipline, math and english skills. For this reason my daughter also joined kumon a year ago. Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
