About our centre
Welcome to Kumon Belmont Study Centre.
Since 1998, Kumon Belmont Study Centre has been proud to support children and families across our local communities in Cheam, Belmont, Sutton, Ewell and Banstead. We offer individualised Maths and English programmes designed to help children of all ages and abilities build confidence, strengthen core skills and develop positive learning habits for life.
At Kumon, children are not simply taught the answers. Instead, they are gently guided to think, try, correct, practise and grow. Through small, consistent steps, students develop concentration, independence, resilience and problem solving skills, helping them become confident learners who are willing to take on new challenges.
Every child’s journey is unique. We take the time to understand each student’s starting point and provide work that is carefully matched to their ability. This allows every child to progress at a pace that is right for them, while developing the confidence to work independently and take ownership of their learning.
Our nurturing Study Centre environment is led by a dedicated Instructor and supported by a caring team of class assistants. Together, we create a positive atmosphere where students feel encouraged, supported and proud of their progress.
We believe that learning works best in partnership with families. By working together, we can help children build strong foundations, develop self-belief and grow into capable, independent learners who are equipped for success both inside and outside the classroom.
We look forward to welcoming your family to Kumon Belmont Study Centre.

About your Instructor
Hello, I’m Ms Ade, the proud Instructor at Kumon Belmont Study Centre.
My Kumon journey began as a parent when my eldest daughters were just three and four years old. I saw first-hand how small, daily steps could build concentration, confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. All four of my daughters thrived through Kumon, and watching them develop the ability to think for themselves, persevere through challenges, and grow in self-belief inspired me deeply.
That experience continues to shape the way I support every student at our centre. I believe every child has potential, but every child’s journey is unique. That is why I value Kumon’s individualised approach. We start from where each child is and gently guide them forward at a pace that helps them feel both supported and challenged.
At Kumon Belmont study centre, based in Cheam, I aim to create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel encouraged to try, make mistakes, learn from them, and grow. Progress is not only about maths and English; it is also about developing focus, resilience, confidence, independence, and strong learning habits that will benefit children throughout their lives.
I love working in partnership with families and celebrating every child’s small steps as well as their big milestones.
I look forward to welcoming you and supporting your child on their own unique Kumon journey.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
