A big book sale

Last week (30 December - 6 December), our Corporate Social Responsibility Partner The National Literacy Trust ran the Big Book Sale campaign in order to raise vital funds to help children from disadvantaged communities improve their literacy skills.

We got involved in the initiative by encouraging our Instructors to hold book sale events within their local communities, and by hosting our own Big Book Sale events across the Kumon regional offices.

Kumon Associates were encouraged to share in the joy of reading by donating their much loved books to this worthy cause.

We received plenty of donations so had a whole assortment of books to sell from genres including: children's books, autobiographies, recipe books, 'chick-lit', crime fiction, language/grammar books, lifestyle and nature/landscape. We also had a variety of Christmas cards for sale.

Marketing Communications Executive Sophie Hickey, said: "We are always eager to get involved with the NLT's campaigns, and had a central display within the Southgate Office so you couldn't miss us! It was great to see so many Associates browsing and purchasing their next read, and as the event ran all week new books were being brought in everyday, so the selection was kept well-stocked and diverse."

A big thank you to everyone who got involved! The money we have raised across Kumon UK & Ireland will help give children and young people books of their own to keep and help them gain the literacy skills they need to get a good job and reach their potential.
