About our centre
We are offering Free Registration to all new students joining the centre until 15 October 2026.
The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable children of all ages and abilities to develop strong foundations for learning and reach their individual potential.
Our unique study method focuses on helping children learn independently, build confidence in their own abilities, and develop a positive attitude towards learning. Students progress through small, manageable steps, gradually developing their ability, accuracy, and fluency before moving on to more challenging topics.
As the Kumon Method is not based on a child’s age or school curriculum, students can revisit areas where they need additional practice and, when ready, progress beyond their school year group.
Each child begins with an individual assessment, allowing the Instructor to identify the most suitable starting point and provide work at the right level. Through regular worksheet study and daily practice, students develop concentration, perseverance, fluency, and effective study habits.
Children attend their local study centre twice a week, where the Instructor monitors their progress, provides guidance when needed, and sets work according to their individual development. Homework is also an important part of the programme, helping students maintain consistency and develop the habit of independent daily study.
Our study centre provides a calm, focused, and supportive learning environment where every child can progress at their own pace. We aim to work closely with parents and regularly monitor each student’s development to support them throughout their learning journey.

About your Instructor
Hello, I’m Reshma Patil, the Instructor at Kumon Bradford, Barkerend Study Centre.
As a Kumon parent myself, I have personally experienced the benefits of the Kumon Method through my son’s learning journey. I have seen how Kumon can help children develop not only their Maths and English skills, but also their confidence, concentration, independence, and positive study habits.
My experience as a Kumon parent is one of the main reasons I decided to become a Kumon Instructor. I was impressed by the way Kumon encourages children to learn independently, work at their own pace, and gradually develop their abilities through small, achievable steps. Experiencing the programme from a parent’s perspective inspired me to help other children and families benefit from the same positive approach to learning.
As an Instructor, my aim is to create a calm, welcoming, and encouraging environment where every child feels supported and motivated to do their best. I understand that every child is unique and learns differently, so I strive to support each student according to their individual ability while encouraging them to become confident and independent learners.
I look forward to working closely with students and parents, celebrating each child’s progress, and supporting them throughout their Kumon journey. My goal is not only to help children strengthen their Maths and English abilities but also to develop the confidence, independence, and learning skills they can carry with them throughout their education and beyond.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
