Welcome to the Kumon Chelsfield Study Centre. This centre opened in 2009 and offers supplementary maths and English programmes for children of all ages and abilities. The typical age of students range between three and 16. Students from Private as well as State owned Pre-school, Primary and Secondary schools are enrolled at the centre.

The Chelsfield study centre is attended by two Instructors with a combined Kumon experience of 25 years between them. They provide an excellent support structure to help the students get the best from the supplementary education.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we guide and encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to study unfamiliar work. The programme also helps in developing the necessary building blocks of concentration, accuracy and time management needed to face the challenges of competitive entrance examinations.

The centre benefits from sufficient, unrestricted free off street parking. A welcoming reception staff exchanges Kumon worksheets and answers queries from the parents. We look forward to welcoming you at the centre.

About the Instructor

Hello, my name is Nilesh Kirtikar and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Chelsfield Study Centre.

My family’s Kumon journey started 25 years ago when my son joined the Kumon Maths Programme and, after seeing how the programme improved his ability to focus and work quickly in a structured manner, we also enrolled our younger daughter. My wife and I were both inspired by our children’s success and decided to open our own Kumon centres – I have been a Kumon Instructor since 2009!

Being a Kumon parent, I have seen first-hand how the Kumon Method has benefited our children. The way that Kumon assesses children’s individual aptitude to create them a personalised learning plan demonstrates how the development of each child’s unique ability forms an integral part of the Kumon Method.

There is real joy in seeing students succeed in their exams or improve on their abilities through Kumon study. Education has always been my passion, and working as a Kumon Instructor allows me to pursue this passion in way that helps children become capable, motivated self-learners.

The Kumon Study Programmes are a powerful investment and now I work to make these opportunities available to as many people as possible. Together, we can develop bright young individuals who are motivated to make a difference in the community.

I look forward to working with you to discover your child's true potential.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
