Ability development for any child at any age
Search from over 600 centres in the UK
The centre opened in 2007 and provides a friendly and welcoming environment for your child to study maths and English.
The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.
Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.
Hi, my name is Zahra Ahari and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Coventry West Study Centre.
I have worked in primary and secondary schools throughout Coventry supporting students of all ages and abilities, and have always valued the importance of education. My ambition is to put a love of learning into my students’ hearts. By ensuring students are working at the right level for them, I aim for each student to thrive on conquering new challenges. A happy student is a good student in my opinion!
I enrolled my children onto the Kumon Maths Programme when they were in their early years of primary school. Realising how their confidence and skills grew in maths, they both jumped at the chance to enrol onto the English programme. They started at a comfortable level with both programmes and progressed very quickly. They became skilled at mental maths, comprehension and reading. My faith in Kumon grew even more when their teacher asked how they had managed to get so far ahead!
I endeavour to provide a supportive and friendly environment for our students – just like that which my own children experienced in their Kumon years of study. I am able to achieve my goal with the support and dedication of my trained team of assistants.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
They don't. A Kumon student progresses based on their current ability and not their age, although we believe that every child has unlimited potential and can ultimately tackle advanced work through well-paced and individualised instruction. We have children of similar ages studying different material and children of different ages studying the same material. Everything is dependent on the student's needs, not on how old they are.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
