About this centre
The Kumon Didcot Study Centre offers maths and English support to students from three years of age to A-levels and is popular with students from Didcot and the surrounding areas. The centre has been established for several years nurturing maths and English completers. Most of our students have been enrolled for over two years and are a testament to how much daily Kumon practice supports their academic progress.
Our aim is to develop confident, independent young learners, who have the skills and ability to thrive at school and beyond. Alongside the Instructor, Viresh, there is a team of fully trained assistants who are able to guide each student to help them achieve their very best. New students and early learners are, initially, closely monitored by the assistants and Viresh in a dedicated area. Once they have developed effective study skills, under our guidance, they will begin to work more independently. The objective is to further develop their confidence and encourage self-learning, to help them go on to reach their full potential.
Students complete daily worksheet study developing their ability and fluency gradually over time, progressing in small steps and building their foundation. Viresh will set work at just the right level to challenge and keep them engaged, regardless of age or school year. This means that they can strengthen their key skills and progress beyond school year level without restriction.
We aim for our students to leave each class day feeling ‘smarter’ and more confident in their own abilities. We hold an annual awards ceremony, attended by our Kumon families and students, to celebrate and recognise students’ outstanding achievements.
Kumon offers a cost-effective and convenient way to help your child build strong maths and English skills for a successful future.
What motivates me everyday is seeing the realisation on student’s faces when they have tackled a challenging question independently and when they achieve one hundred percent in their classwork.
I want to ensure that each student at the centre is valued and supported to enable them to reach their potential. As well as tailored instruction, I hold progress meetings to discuss each student’s past, present and future progress and goals. I am a firm believer in the Kumon Method of Learning, since it enables children to achieve beyond expectations and become a self-learner. When a child comes to our Centre, the aim is to create a positive learning environment and develop a positive attitude to embrace new challenges.
I look forward to starting your Kumon journey with you and continuing to work together to ensure your child is getting the appropriate support to develop a positive attitude towards studying.

Most Popular Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
