The Kumon Dunstable Study Centre offers both maths and English study programmes to help your child achieve their goals.

Unlike traditional tuition centres, Kumon goes further by helping students develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work independently. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop curiosity and a love of learning.

The Dunstable study centre opened in August 1999 and has been part of the community ever since! Classes run in our venue at the Quadrant Shopping Centre, providing a comfortable setting for parents and students alike.

Work for the students is set at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

Classes run five times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Attending class allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level.

This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here for more details.

As an Ofsted registered centre, parents can make considerable savings through various schemes.

About the Instructor

Dunstable - Lisa-Marie Wynne
My name is Lisa-Marie Wynne and I was introduced to Kumon over 25 years ago, at the young age of four! My parents fuelled my love of maths by providing me with more material to study at home, which led me to studying Kumon for 13 years. Since then, I have developed my understanding of Kumon through the perspectives of student, assistant, and now Instructor.

After obtaining a Law degree, I discovered a passion for teaching, and worked part-time at six Kumon centres over nine years. I pride myself on my ability to bring the best out of children, using Kumon and my knowledge to help children flourish, gain confidence and develop self-discipline.

From my long experience with both working in education and Kumon, I understand that each child has an individual learning process, and I find it rewarding to help children reach the stage where they can finally say “I did it!”

At the Kumon Dunstable Study Centre, we want to discover each child’s potential and enable them to maximise their abilities in maths and English, and I look forward to welcoming you soon.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
