Becoming my own boss was a natural choice for my change of career
Elizabeth Forrester first encountered Kumon as a teenager, when she took on a part-time job as a class assistant at her local centre. Following a ten-year career as a solicitor, she’s come full circle and back to Kumon; qualifying as an Instructor and now running her very own centre in the village of Lowton in Greater Manchester. We’ve been speaking with Elizabeth about changing career and how she feels about becoming her own boss.

The most rewarding thing about being a Kumon Instructor is seeing the students develop and grow in confidence
Helen first became a Kumon Instructor after experiencing the study programmes as the parent of primary school-aged twins. “They were the youngest in their year at school and needed a bit of a nudge to give them increased confidence in both maths and English. I was so impressed with the Kumon programmes and knew other families are in need of this type of educational support, so I decided to train to become a Kumon Instructor myself!”

After 12 years running from a community hall, Lola Ottun has moved her Kumon Lower Sydenham Study Centre into a permanent and spacious premises, where she hopes to support even more local families on the Kumon programmes.
