The Kumon Leyton study centre offers maths and English tuition to children from the age of three years to 18 years of age; from pre-school to A-levels. We have been proudly educating students in Leyton, London since 2003.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

We have nurtured many maths and English programme students over the years and we continue to work with children to instil the passion and dedication into many more of our students. Our students are testament to how much their daily Kumon practice supports their academic progress at school and beyond.

The achievements and accomplishments of our students are recognised and celebrated daily at our centre. We want our students to leave each class day feeling more confident in their abilities. Each year we hold a ceremony to celebrate and recognise students’ outstanding achievements. These ceremonies are attended by most of our Kumon families and students as well as local teachers from neighbouring schools.

Our centre is open three days per week and students can attend up to two classes weekly either online or physically. We are also offering Kumon on tablets via KUMON CONNECT (please contact us to find out more). We offer a free assessment in maths and English and accept childcare or tax-free vouchers. We are so proud to continue to offer excellent support to our students and families within the Leyton, London area.

About the Instructor

Hello! My name is Shellina Sharma. I am proud to have been a Kumon Instructor since 2013. My primary goal is to ensure that each student at the Kumon Leyton Study Centre is valued and supported to enable them to reach their full potential.

Every child is unique, and therefore every journey at Kumon is different. After your child undertakes an assessment, I will identify the correct starting point in the programme for them and they begin their journey at their own pace with the right tailored instruction.

My greatest reward is seeing children progress through each level; the confidence they gain in their academic ability, in and out of the classroom. It is also very rewarding for me to observe my students realising their full potential. I am dedicated and passionate about developing children’s abilities and believe that every child can achieve success.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Kumon Leyton Study Centre.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
