Welcome to the Kumon Sheffield, Crookes Study Centre.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

The team of assistants are carefully selected and trained so that they are able to excellently support the students and families. Many of the assistants are either previous Kumon students who have completed higher levels of the programme or are current Kumon students who are working through the higher levels of the programme and can therefore empathise with the students and support them.

Many of the students at the centre have committed to Kumon study for the long term because of the positive results it has brought them. The Kumon programmes are for all ages and abilities, with the youngest student at the centre currently two years old and the oldest being 18.

Please contact the Instructor for more information. There are appointments available at the centre during office hours if you would like to meet with the Instructor.

My name is Rita Rughani and I have been running the Sheffield, Crookes Study Centre for over nine years. In this time, I have been fortunate enough to welcome so many lovely families to our centre as part of my job.

It is truly rewarding when I receive message of gratitude from parents of student who have excelled as a result of their Kumon studies. It is also great to see those students who previously lacked confidence flourish and now enjoy learning.

It is important to me that the child has a positive experience of Kumon and that their class visits are meaningful and beneficial to them. In order to do achieve this, the classroom is well structured, new work is initially introduced in class and a discussion takes place between the student and I to ensure that they have understood the work before it is taken home.

As an Instructor, I believe that the success of the Kumon studies relies on the partnership of the parent and myself and as such, there will be transparent and ongoing communication between us to discuss your child’s progress and any issues that may arise.

Contact me to see how Kumon can help your child achieve their full potential.

Most Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

They don't. A Kumon student progresses based on their current ability and not their age, although we believe that every child has unlimited potential and can ultimately tackle advanced work through well-paced and individualised instruction. We have children of similar ages studying different material and children of different ages studying the same material. Everything is dependent on the student's needs, not on how old they are.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
