About this centre
The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable students of all ages and abilities to achieve. Our aim at the Kumon Smethwick Study Centre is for every student to become an independent, self-learner, with a positive attitude to study and the ability to develop key foundations for learning. Our unique study method focuses on enabling children to work independently, giving them confidence in their abilities. They progress through small steps to gradually develop ability and fluency before moving on to the next topic. Kumon study is not based on school curriculum or age, allowing children the flexibility to revisit and build skills where they need to and progress beyond school level where their ability allows. Unlike traditional tuition, Kumon study fosters students’ skill in self-learning, building confidence and lessening reliance on a teacher.
By encouraging students to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities, the students are able to face unfamiliar work with confidence, comfort and ease. Daily study of the unique Kumon worksheets, at home and twice weekly at the centre, students will develop invaluable study skills and build in confidence in their ability and fluency. They will strive to study above their school grade, enabling them to realise their potential both at school and beyond. Kumon’s aim is to develop each child into a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner.
Hello, I am Naz and my background is in Education and I hold a degree in Psychology. I am very passionate in working with children, and having worked with them for numerous years, I understand that each child is an individual and their developments therefore are unique too.
Kumon allows us to offer individualised instruction, pursue the potential of every child, and instill a positive attitude towards learning, and I plan on developing this through my instruction of your child(ren). I feel a great deal of pride when I watch the students develop their confidence to study advanced material. I strongly believe that every child has the potential to learn and improve.
I look forward to working with you all closely, as it is with our teamwork that your child(ren) will grow through the Kumon programmes, learning integral skills that will inevitably help them to become independent, confident, self-learners.

Most Popular Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
