About our centre

The Kumon Walsall, Rushall Study Centre is located at the Manor Farm Community Association on King George Crescent in Rushall, Walsall. The centre provides supplementary learning support for children through the internationally recognised Kumon Mathematics and English programmes. Its aim is to help students of all ages and abilities develop strong academic foundations while fostering a lifelong appreciation for learning.

At the centre, students follow the Kumon Method, which emphasises independent learning and the gradual development of academic skills. Rather than focusing solely on examination preparation, the programme encourages students to cultivate problem-solving abilities, confidence, and self-discipline. Each student works through carefully structured worksheets that progressively increase in difficulty, enabling them to advance at their own pace while strengthening their understanding of mathematics and English.

Students typically attend the centre up to twice per week for approximately 30 minutes per subject. During these sessions, the Instructor observes their progress and provides guidance where necessary. In addition, students complete daily worksheets at home to maintain consistent practice and reinforce their learning. This balanced approach of centre-based instruction and regular home study supports the development of independence and effective study habits.

The centre is led by instructor Nuzhat Wadood and provides a supportive and structured learning environment in which every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. By tailoring the learning programme to each student’s individual ability rather than their age, the centre helps learners build confidence, strengthen their academic skills, and develop the motivation required for long-term success in school and beyond.

Nuzhat Wadood

About your Instructor

I am Nuzhat Wadood, the Instructor at Kumon Walsall, Rushall study centre, teaching both Mathematics and English. I hold an LLB degree and spent ten years working in the corporate sector as an accountant before dedicating my career to supporting children’s education through the Kumon programme. My professional experience has strengthened my analytical and organisational skills, which I now use to guide students through the Kumon Method with structure, patience, and care.

I work alongside Asma Aftab, our assistant Instructor, who is a qualified dentist and a dedicated homeschooling parent. Together, we bring a combination of professional expertise and a strong understanding of parenting to the centre. As parents ourselves, we appreciate how important it is for children to reach their full potential while still enjoying their learning journey.

Our aim is to support each child at their individual level, allowing them to progress at a pace that is appropriate for them. Through the Kumon programme, students develop strong study habits, resilience, and confidence in both Mathematics and English, skills that support their success not only in school but throughout their future education.

At Kumon Walsall, Rushall study centre our focus is simple: helping every child build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

We also believe that parents play a vital role in their child’s learning. For this reason, we encourage open communication and provide regular updates so that families remain informed and supported throughout their child’s Kumon journey.

We look forward to welcoming new families to our Kumon community at Walsall, Rushall study centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
