About our centre

The centre provides an enjoyable and friendly learning environment in which students are encouraged to develop their study skills and grow in confidence. It attracts students from the local neighbourhoods of Whitton, Twickenham, South Hounslow, Hanworth, and Isleworth, as well as other surrounding areas.

The maths and English study programmes enable children of all ages and abilities to build strong learning foundations. Our programmes not only help your child become a confident learner, but also go beyond traditional maths and English tuition by developing independent study skills that are essential for school, university, employment, and all other aspects of adult life. Encouraging self-learning and the ability to progress without reliance on a teacher is at the heart of our approach.

Our study programmes offer an economical way to equip your child with the skills needed to build a bright future. Following an initial assessment, your child will be placed on an individualised study programme, with work set at the appropriate level. Students complete daily worksheets, building skills and fluency in small, manageable steps, while also attending tuition sessions at the study centre once or twice a week. An instructor monitors and guides each child’s progress to ensure the work remains appropriately challenging.

Kumon study programmes do not follow a fixed curriculum; work is assigned regardless of age, enabling children to revisit topics or advance far beyond school-level material without restriction. Kumon nurtures each child’s natural potential and strengths, helping them to work at their best level while developing strong problem-solving skills and confidence in their own abilities, without the need for constant guidance.

Nilou Kaviani Condeixa

About your Instructor

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit.

My name is Nilou, and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Whitton Study Centre. I am also a mother of three children, all of whom have followed the Kumon path. I have seen first-hand the positive impact Kumon has had on their independent learning, confidence, and problem-solving skills, and two of them have now completed the programme.

As a parent, I understand both the hopes you hold for your children and the challenges they may face along the way. I am also a clinical pharmacist with a Master’s degree in Pharmacy, and I previously worked as a pharmacy manager in the local area for many years. I have always had a strong passion for self-learning and fulfilling one’s potential.

My professional background has strengthened my attention to detail, patience, and my belief in helping learners build confidence and independence. Having followed this learning path myself, I understand the challenges and obstacles that can arise throughout education and in the workplace.

I strongly believe and have consistently observed that, when children of any age are encouraged to fully pursue their individual potential, they become independent, confident learners who can face challenges and find solutions. I believe this equips them to navigate different stages of their lives without the need for constant direction.

I would be delighted to welcome you to the centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
