About our centre

We are offering Free Registration to all new students joining the centre until 15 October 2026. 

The Kumon Wymondham Study Centre, sister centre to the Kumon Norwich and Kumon Gorleston Study Centres, opened its doors in September 2026.

Together, these three centres share the same team, philosophy and passion for developing students of all ages and abilities into independent, advanced learners through the Kumon Method of Learning.

Our Instructors; Sam, Sara and Jamie, are experienced and dedicated educators. Unlike traditional tuition providers who focus on teaching students what to do, we nurture them to become independent and empowered learners who have confidence in their own abilities and are prepared to tackle unfamiliar work.

By taking ownership of their learning journey, our students become motivated to progress and succeed. They learn to embrace new topics and challenges, taking one small step forward each day.

Johan, a Kumon Norwich student of eight years, shares his perspective:

“From the outside, Kumon looks simple. Worksheets. Repetition. A small centre where children sit in rows and work through problems. It does not look like the kind of thing that shapes a person. But I promise it is one of the most powerful things a young person can do. Sheet by sheet, level by level, something is accumulating. Not just knowledge, but character and resolve. Kumon taught me that you can achieve anything with hard work and consistency. That by just showing up and trying, you’re already halfway there. That with enough perseverance, there is no dream too big, and no dreamer too small.”

Students complete daily worksheets at home and attend the Study Centre once a week. Because Kumon work is set according to ability rather than age, your child can revisit topics where they need further practice or advance far beyond their school material, without restriction.

About your Instructor

My name is Sam Rudgley, and I am the Instructor leading the Kumon Norwich, Gorleston and Wymondham Study Centres.

My Kumon journey began over ten years ago, when I joined Kumon Headquarters in London in January 2015 as an Area Manager. In this role, I supported 25 Study Centres across North London and the East of England, working closely with Instructors and their students. It was only a matter of time before I decided to run a Study Centre of my own!

Before joining Kumon, my professional life was dedicated to teaching and developing others. I am a certified secondary school English teacher, having earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the Literary Arts. I also spent five years working in the publishing and language services sector, where my role as a manager centred on recognising and developing the potential of each member of my team.

I draw on all of this experience in my work as a Kumon Instructor, and I make sure that this ethos remains at the heart of everything we do across all three of our Study Centres. Every child is unique, and every child’s needs are different. As a result, each student’s journey through the Kumon programmes will be different too.

It is my responsibility and my joy to help you and your child find the right path towards academic success. Along the way, we aim to develop not only academic ability, but also the confidence, resilience and independence that will support your child far beyond their time at Kumon.

The Kumon Norwich, Gorleston and Wymondham Study Centres share an amazing team of leaders. Sara Cordy and Jamie Allin are my fellow Instructors, and together we work closely as a leadership team to support, encourage and celebrate every one of our students across the region.

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
