"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"
Faye Liversage (aged 17), Kumon maths completer

About the centre

When students arrive at the centre, I greet them. They swop their completed homework for new homework and they collect their class-work for the day. Students will typically be in class for 20-30 minutes per subject. During this time parents are welcome to wait in the waiting area. Once the students have completed their class-work they hand the work to be marked and they then do their corrections. There is also time for additional activities such as times table/arithmetic practice, number board games, reading, number or letter writing practice.

All students must see me before they can leave class. This gives both me and the student the chance to discuss their goals and their progress. This is when praise and feedback are given, not forgetting achievement certificates and prizes.

As motivational tools we have a sticker system in place, which enables students to earn WH Smith vouchers. Students are also given 100% stickers for 100% results in class work. We like to celebrate our students' achievement via a twice-yearly Advance Student Roll ceremony.

Effective communication with parents is paramount in guaranteeing the success of the student and is greatly encouraged via telephone, email, or communication book in the centre.
