About the centre

Kumon maths and English classes at Highworth School take place on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4 and 6, after school during term time. During holidays the classes will run from 10 to 12 in the mornings on Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

An enrolment meeting will take place, where you, your child and I will talk about the Kumon method, and your child will take a Diagnostic Test in maths and English. If you wish to enrol your child for both subjects, it is possible to do so straight away, or they can start with one subject at this stage and soon after start the second subject. The Diagnostic Test will be a timed test and its purpose is to enable me to find an Easy Starting Point for your child in the Kumon maths and English programmes.

 

The starting point will enable your child to work comfortably through their daily set of worksheets. As they work through the worksheets independently, they will feel confident as they learn from their mistakes and learn to deal with more challenging work. Each child will be given guidance in class when necessary as Kumon aims to make every student an independent learner.

 

If you decide to enrol your child, the Progress Chart will be explained and we will discuss our goals for your child and the classroom routine,and explain the homework marking system. Once you have completed the Enrolment form, we will agree a start date for your child to attend class where they will be given their work to complete up to their next class visit.
