"Kumon is not always fun because it is challenging, but it is always successful provided parent, Instructor and student work in partnership."

About the centre

About the Centre Barnet picture 1When new students arrive at the centre, they swap their completed homework for new work for the following week and are given feedback on their completed homework. They then sit down and complete their classwork. Students would typically be in class for 20-40 minutes per subject.

The class work may be a test, or new work which the student may need guidance to complete. Whilst the student is completing their class work, their homework is being checked and recorded by the centre's team of assistants. Along with me, the team is on hand to provide guidance where necessary.

When the student has completed their class work it will be marked by an assistant. Once the work has been marked students must correct any mistakes made.

As motivational tools we have a sticker system in place for completion of homework and students may receive special 100% stickers for perfect class work. Stickers are saved on a card and every full card can be exchanged for WH Smith vouchers. Students also receive certificates whenever they successfully complete tests for a level of work.

Twice a year we celebrate the student's achievements and hopefully motivate other students to aim high by providing students who have reached exceptional levels for their age with special bronze, silver and gold certificates. Students completing the whole programme receive a framed Completer certificate, and other milestones are marked along the way.
