"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"
On leaving school I spent my first few years working in industry. I decided that I wanted a change of career to something that would be more fulfilling and rewarding, and so went into the field of education. I taught in Barrow and then Slough, working with both children and adults over the course of the next twelve years. I returned to Cumbria to open my first Kumon Centre in Kendal in April 2000.
Kumon offered the ideal situation of working with students of all ages on a long term basis, watching them make incredible progress, and following them through their school journey. I opened a second centre in Ulverston in June 2004. In 2005, I decided to sell the Kendal centre and relocate the Ulverston centre to Barrow, as many students were travelling from Barrow to attend class.
I have always had a particular interest in children's education. Since starting my work with Kumon, I have been consistently delighted to see numerous students, including my own two children, make huge progress with maths and English through their Kumon studies.
