"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"
Faye Liversage (aged 17), Kumon maths completer

About the centre

Welcome to the Beckton Kumon Centre. We are situated at the Flanders Community Centre, 116 Napier Road, E6 2SG. Our aim is to build confidence by offering an individualised, independent study program. The program teaches them life skills such as independent learning and positive daily study habits and brings out their true potential.

Most of our students attend once a week on a Wednesday or Friday. They are at the Centre for around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on whether they do one or both subjects. Students who are on the lower levels get a 5-10 minute one to one session with my assistants. Students who need help in understanding their work also get one to one attention from either me or my assistants.

In class students swap their homework for new work and complete that day's work in class with an assistant. Students studying English read to an assistant. Maths students have an extra activity to develop their concentration by completing various number boards and/or oral maths whilst they are waiting for class work to be marked. I then see the students before they leave for feedback and praise.

Enrolling your child into the Kumon program is a big commitment for both students and parents. In order for a student to be successful in the program parents are obliged to ensure all homework is completed, marked and corrected on a daily basis.

Every six months we have an Advanced Student Roll in which students' achievements are recognised according to the national roll of Kumon students.
