"I find schoolwork easier to understand and complete. My mental arithmetic has improved and I can do my sums in my head."
Peter Rogers (aged 9), Yate Study Centre

About the centre

Students come to class twice a week. When the students arrive they exchange completed work for new work. Parents are invited to wait in the designated waiting area.

While each student completes their class work, the assistants record their homework results.

When the student has completed their class work, they hand it in for marking. It is at this time that they do a supplementary activity such as numberboards or mental arithmetic checking.

All corrections are completed before the student leaves the centre and one-to-one feedback with the Instructor is always given to each student before they leave. A visit to class takes approximately 20-30 minutes for a 'single subject' student and 30-40 minutes for a 'dual subject' student.

In order to maintain the quiet working atmosphere in class and to encourage our students to be independent there is a waiting area for parents and siblings. Vital communication between parents and the Instructor is maintained by telephone, email, and a six-monthly parents meeting.

Enrolments are held at the centre and take about an hour. It is essential that the adult who will be supporting the student at home attends the enrolment.
