About the centre

Enrolment

You are invited to a 60-minute enrolment meeting during which:

  • the maths and English programmes are explained in more detail
  • the dynamics of daily study at home are discussed
  • a diagnostic test is done to determine your child's starting point on the programme/s
  • gives you an opportunity to ask questions, see actual worksheets and other tools used to monitor your child's progress
  • your child is registered, and a start date is agreed

Kumon works when parents...
  • demonstrate enthusiasm for Kumon
  • praise their child's achievements
  • emphasise their child's good qualities
  • encourage their child to do his/her best and to work at their own pace
  • make homework a priority
  • have long-term goals for their child
  • present a united front in support of Kumon study
  • make a long-term commitment (at least one year) to continuous study in order to develop their child's potential fully
During class
  • Students hand in completed homework for checking, and collect homework for the following week
  • Complete a piece of work during class. New concepts and study skills are introduced at his time. Achievement tests are also in class, at the end of each level
  • Oral reading, oral maths and other supplementary activities are done
  • Feedback and praise is given. The student may wish to discuss their work and progress during feedback
  • Consistency, positive attitude and achievement are recognised and rewarded
  • Students are able to 'shop' with their earned stickers

There is a dedicated team of assistants for Early Learners in the centre. Parents are asked to stay on the premises while their child is in class in the waiting area provided.
