The centre was established in 2007 and is located at the popular Blackfen School for Girls, convenient to SE and DA postcodes for parking and public transport, and close to the A2 Danson Interchange and A20 for those coming from further afield.
Students complete individually-set daily work at home, and attend class at the centre once or twice a week, averaging 40 minutes per subject. Students can come to class at a time that suits them whilst parents can relax in the pleasant waiting area. A special class for pre-school children helps them get off to a flying start at school.
Whether from state or independent schools, Kumon study boosts children's confidence in maths and English and improves their concentration and self-esteem.
Supplementary class activities support students’ learning. Reading is encouraged, with all students borrowing from a range of books. Staff at the centre provide instruction, observe students, introduce new work, test progress and give support, praise and feedback.
The centre welcomes students of all ages and abilities. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, classes are for students of all ages. On Saturdays there are two classes: 9.30am-10.15am for pre-school students, and 10.15am-12.15pm for primary and secondary school-aged students.
