"I find schoolwork easier to understand and complete. My mental arithmetic has improved and I can do my sums in my head."
Hi my name is Ismail Patel and I run the Bradford, Heaton Kumon centre. One of my aims as a Kumon Instructor is to help children with their learning so they can go on to become truly independent in their studies. It is important that a child is given the practice to learn something and understand it before starting something new.
I spend time with each student at my class ensuring they have the best possible learning experience in the Bradford, Heaton centre. It is great to be able to motivate children and watch them grow and develop with confidence at each class they attend. The transformation as the "light goes on" and they start to achieve in areas they never thought they could is amazing.
I understand that your child's education is one of the most important things that you will ever consider; it is not always easy to know what the best thing to do for your child might be. Kumon supports children of all abilities and the programme is individualised to each child's need based solely on their ability.
If your child is bright and keen to study then I can guide and inspire them through the programmes – many of our students study 6-18 months above their school level, actually seeing topics at the Kumon centre before studying them at school.
If your child is struggling at school I will take them back to an Easy Start Point, a point where they are comfortable and confident and we will work together step by step, tackling each topic as it comes along. Most students who enrol on Kumon are often working above their school levels (even those once struggling) after a number of years on the programme – remember Kumon is a long term programme nurturing the whole development of the child. There is no quick fix.
Maybe your child is the youngest in their class, maybe they are only 3 but ready to start learning, maybe they are keen to learn more than they see at school or maybe they have just come home from school and asked for a little bit of help.
My role as a Kumon Instructor is very rewarding and my students are an inspiration to me. My job is to guide and motivate students through the programmes, to set goals and targets together to ensure they are progressing and reaching their potential. Doing a little bit of work everyday can have such an impact on a child's development and confidence.
