"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"
Faye Liversage (aged 17), Kumon maths completer

About the centre

Students arrive at the centre and are greeted by one of the class assistants. Students swap their completed homework for new homework and collect their class work for the day. Students are typically in class for 20 – 30 minutes per subject. During this time, parents are welcome to wait in the waiting area.

Whilst the student is completing their class work, their homework is being checked and recorded by the class assistants. Along with me, the class assistants are on hand to provide support where necessary.

Once the student has completed their class work, they hand their work in to be marked. Students complete oral work with my senior assistant, practicing and reinforcing their mental arithmetic and / or reading from a selection of books held at class. Once the work has been marked, students must correct any mistakes made.

All students must see me before they leave class. This gives both the student and me the chance to talk about their progress, discuss any new topics introduced and set short or long-term goals. Students also, very importantly, receive feedback and plenty of praise and encouragement.

As motivational tools we have a sticker system in place that rewards the completion of homework and the achievement of 100%. Twice a year we have an Advanced Student Roll (ASR) ceremony where we recognise and celebrate student's achievements.
