The centre was one of the first Kumon centres in the UK and has been open for nearly 25 years. It has been operating in its current location for the last 22 years and welcomes students of all ages, with current students ranging from three-and-a-half years and older.
There is ample free parking within the church compound and the centre benefits from having two comfortable waiting rooms for parents. One is adjacent to the class room on the secure first floor and there is a further waiting area with a variety of toys to amuse any younger siblings on the ground floor. Parents are respectfully asked to wait in a waiting area while their child is in class.
The class room is very bright and airy and has a range of small desks for early learners and separate tables for older students where they can complete their work undisturbed. Students are usually in class for 20-30 minutes for each subject and can drop in at a time convenient to the family during the opening hours.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
