The centre was established in 2005 and is based at Chesham Grammar School, in the language block. Many of the students who attend the study centre attend schools in Chesham and live in and around the Chesham area. However, some students travel to the centre from surrounding areas.
The study area is a bright, quiet, focused room. There is plenty of parking at the venue and there is a small area for parents to wait while children are in class. The school where this study centre is located is next door to the Chesham Leisure Centre.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
The current ages of children attending the centre ranges from five to 18 years old, although the centre welcomes all ages and abilities. There are currently six or seven assistants working at the centre on both days.
