The centre is located at Hummersknott Academy, which is in close proximity to Broken Scar recreational area and Mowden shops. The centre is easily accessible by public transport and is on a bus route that runs from the town centre.
The study room can be easily located by the A-frame outside of the venue and the leaflets and roll-up banner in the reception/waiting area. The study room is clearly sign-posted from reception.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The youngest student at the centre is currently five years old and the oldest is 12 years old, however the Kumon programmes are suitable for students of all ages and abilities.
The Instructor is DBS checked and currently supported by one class assistant who works with newly enrolled students and early learners. The class assistant also supports with the marking and recording of students work.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
There are supplementary activities in the centre such as Numberboards, as well as a selection of books available from the Kumon Recommended Reading List.
The venue has a waiting area for parents and siblings that is shared with parents and siblings of children that are attending other supplementary activities.
