Since it was established in 2001, the study centre has had more than 500 children benefit from the maths and English programmes run there. The centre has a long track record of supporting and helping children to develop skills in preparation for taking exams, and many at the centre have gone on to gain places at Colyton and Torquay Grammar Schools, or to attain top grades in their GCSE and 'A' level exams.
Kumon is suitable for all ages and abilities and students at the centre currently range from four years and upwards, including some being taught at home. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The centre is also experienced in providing effective help for children who may be struggling at school or who may have learning difficulties.
Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.
The classes are held on the upper floor of the grand Regency Grade II listed Dawlish Manor House, overlooking landscaped gardens and a bubbling brook, which is inhabited by black swans. There is ample free parking within the grounds for parents and a gated play park for children, which is popular with younger students after class. A spacious waiting room for parents and siblings is conveniently sited next to the classroom with direct access through sliding doors.
Besides achieving excellent academic results, the Dawlish Study Centre has gained a highly esteemed reputation for its orderly, friendly and informal atmosphere, which both children and parents enjoy.
