Welcome to the Dunfermline Kumon Study Centre, offering both maths and English classes.
This centre opened in May 2008 and is run by a trained Kumon instructor who also has over 30 years' experience of teaching children. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome.
We are situated in St. Leonard's Parish Church and have students from many parts of Dunfermline, as well as many from surrounding villages and towns e.g. Saline, Dalgety Bay and Leven.
The church is easily accessible and ideal for our purposes. Work is done in a well-lit hall. There is a waiting-room for parents where tea and coffee are available and all other facilities – heating, toilets, security, parking etc. are excellent.
At present, students range from four to 16 years of age. Some of them have been studying Kumon for over six years. Committed study of the programme has boosted many students' confidence and self-esteem, as well as developing good study habits.
On the maths programme, they develop their numeracy skills as well as concentration, mental agility, accuracy and fluency.
The English programme focuses on reading comprehension skills, but also builds skills in grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling, as well as fostering a love of reading.
Both programmes complement school work.
Students drop in to class at a time to suit themselves during the sessions and are typically present for 20-30 minutes. Kumon is a unique method of learning. Our ultimate aim is to give your child the best chance of succeeding in school and adult life i.e. to allow them to realise their full potential.
