"Kumon study is the best thing I have ever done for my child Rohan. ...learning Kumon over the last 3 years Rohan has been able to think faster and has become more confident in general and progressed very well in maths."
Mrs Haldankar, mother of Rohan (aged 10), Whetstone study centre

About the centre

We always love to see smiling faces coming into the centre. We are always there to say hello and make sure everyone is happy and confident about Falkirk About the Centre Peterwhat they are going to do before you start their work for the day. Everyone takes different lengths of time to settle into the routine and we will help for as long as it takes for their independence and self-confidence to develop.

While you are doing your work for the day, everything you have done at home is handed into one of our assistants and new work is collected that will last until the next class. All of the work that has been handed in is recorded into your very own record book which is great to back on so you can see your progress very easily. I love looking through all of the work that is handed in because it lets me see what you are finding easy and what is still a wee bit tricky so we can decide what we need to do to help and make any changes to your work for the week that will help.

Falkirk About The Centre Study HallIn class, you will work on all sorts of different things in your very own programme. We will start somewhere that is quite easy to begin with to make sure everything is ok and then go on from there. Once you have settled in, we will begin to work ahead of what you are doing in your Kumon just now in our supplementary fun area so you are ready for what comes next!

While your work is being marked you can take part in additional activities. Our supplementary fun area is staffed by two or three assistants who will work with you and provide other things to do that will make your class work even easier.

Falkirk About the Centre Peter WorkingAs soon as your work has been marked it is really important to correct any mistakes so that you achieve a perfect 100% and you learn a wee bit every day as you go along so that what was a mistake on a Monday is fine by the Thursday or Friday and you know the right answer without thinking about it, which is a great feeling! We will have a chat at class so that we can see how things are going and make a plan together for what we are going to do.
Finally, there is the all important reward stickers! You will be asked to put a certain amount of stickers on your membership card before you leave and on the front of your special Kumon box to decorate it. These stickers lead to rewards so make sure you pick them up.

Whatever you do in class, we want you to do as well as you can and we encourage you to aim high and to build your self-confidence and excellent study skills that you can use for life.

FAQs

Question: You are open from 3.30pm to 5.30pm Does my child have to stay the whole time?
Answer: No. The time spent at class will vary depending on whether a student does one or both subjects but a student will probably spend around 20 – 30 minutes in the class and parents are welcome to wait in the waiting area during this time. Students can drop in at the time that is most convenient for them; some arrive early and leave early whilst others come later maybe before football or dancing class.

Question: Do I have to stay with my child?
Answer: From a safety point of view I like parents or careers to stay at the Centre. We have a lovely comfy waiting room which is a bit of a haven for parents grabbing an enforced wee break in a hectic day! If your child feels better to have you in class with them for a class or two until they settle then that is fine with me. Usually this is not necessary but every child and parent are different.

Question: How do we enrol?
Answer: Enrolments are held either at the centre or I can visit you at home so we can all meet in an atmosphere where your child is most comfortable. If they and you decide to come along to class this means that they have a familiar face to meet them and know the names and a bit about some of the team beforehand. We realise it can be a wee bit scary starting something new for some children so we want to provide them with every opportunity to feel as comfortable as possible when they start. Please call Susan on 01324 718328 to discuss your child.
